Four factors for a balanced life

by Des Menz posted in Work, Life, and Yourself

Good health and happiness - two essentials of a harmonious life. Not much else matters, although it's nice to have financial independence. Most people in the world don't have that; they live to survive. Many don't have happiness, nor good health.

We are privileged indeed if we have all three - good health, happiness, and financial independence.

But there's a fourth. Giving and sharing.

Looking back to find a way forward

Do you ever look back over your past years? To the big milestones in your life. To the achievements. To those times that are indelibly imprinted in your mind.

looking back

I have a habit of looking back to what I've done over the years, and for reasons I don't understand, it happens quite often. Perhaps it's just me, a personal characteristic, but sometimes I look at photos, sometimes at video (some of which is back in the old VHS days ... remember that?), sometimes but not often at the work and projects that I've done. I guess it keeps me on course. And then there's the transition to my online business.

If we think about our past years, it's all a reminder of where we've been and what we've done, who we've helped, and the good times and the not-so-good times; it's our journey in life.

Others have their journeys, too. People like Seth Godin and Dr Mani. I'm on their email lists. They are both unique individuals in the online business world. Seth is positively unique, because he's the principal creator of that marvellous portal called Squidoo. Wikipedia has a good description about Squidoo

What stands out for me about Squidoo is that it has donated to more than 200 charities since it began in 2005.

Go and create a Squidoo lens. It could be fun and it could be profitable for you. And another way of communicating to your tribe.

Be different

The emails that I receive daily from Seth are unique twists on life and every-day matters. He doesn't "sell" in the normal way. Could there be a bit of subliminal messaging going on? Perhaps not.

Anyway, just click on the link below if you want to find out more about this unusual guy.

His site is different too, the layout is absolutely unique. Clean, creative, powerful. What do you think about it?

What do you notice about the header?

Make something happen

Scroll along the bottom bar of the home page. Look what's hidden there. Then keep on searching. You'll be tempted to stay on his site for some time.

So, do you think that we could create a site like that?

I know when I began New Times Home Biz, that I thought I couldn't possibly be as bold as Seth. I chose a conventional approach instead. But why couldn't we step outside our comfort zone, and be creative, and be unique?

And as for Dr Mani, what an inspiration he is. A heart surgeon from India who began selling ebooks online in 1996 to help fund life-saving operations for kids with congenital heart disease. He has now funded 100 operations using his internet business. I can't help but admire Dr Mani and people like him.

Find a balance, make it all happen

We all need to strike a balance in life, and to give is such a great feeling. And for someone else to receive and to benefit is even better.

So, how are YOU REALLY going? Have you made your transition, your change? Is your life in balance? Are you happy in what you're doing? Are you influencing others? Have you achieved true balance in your life?

If you can answer those questions without hesitation, then your new journey is well on its way.

"Go. Make something happen".

By the way, New Times Home Biz is always in transition - a different Home Page, new posts, more info-products. Things will always happen here.

And there are plans to add a membership and video courses.

I'm now using different methods, adding SEO tactics, and using social buttons a lot more. There will be constant change as I apply and test all sorts of strategies.

Make sure you do the same. Roll along with change.
